What Is Rumble Bee Fight Back Club?

Free strength for people who have been priced out

Rumble Bee Fight Back Club is a new charitable community project being developed in Andover.

Our ambition is to create a safe, welcoming gym where people experiencing financial hardship can train completely free of charge.

You will not need an expensive membership.

You will not need fashionable clothes or the latest equipment.

You will not need to pretend that money is not difficult.

If you genuinely cannot afford the fees, Rumble Bee is being built for you.

What will Rumble Bee offer?

We intend to bring physical training, emotional support and positive mentoring together under one roof.

Subject to funding, suitable premises and qualified coaches, Rumble Bee aims to offer:

  • Boxing and martial arts
  • Cardio and fitness training
  • Weights and strength training
  • Healthy eating support
  • Meditation and relaxation
  • Confidence building
  • Mentoring and positive role models
  • A safe community where people can belong

Every activity will be built around respect, discipline, safety and personal growth.

Who will it be for?

Rumble Bee will be for people who cannot afford ordinary gym memberships, private coaching or wellbeing services.

That may include children and families on low incomes, people receiving benefits, low-paid workers, unemployed people, vulnerable adults and anyone whose financial circumstances have shut them out of opportunities that could improve their health and confidence.

Poverty should never be treated as a personal failure.

Nobody should have to perform their hardship, feel ashamed or tell their entire life story simply to be treated with dignity.

Our planned principle is simple:

If cost is the barrier stopping you from taking part, Rumble Bee will aim to remove that barrier.

What does “Fight Back” mean?

Fight Back does not mean revenge.

It does not mean street fighting, intimidation or becoming the person who once frightened you.

It means fighting back against fear, isolation, poor health, lost confidence, bullying, prejudice and the feeling that you do not belong.

We train to protect, not to bully.

We build confidence without cruelty, strength without arrogance and courage without hatred.

The aim is not simply to create better fighters.

The aim is to create stronger, calmer and kinder human beings.

Born from friendship

Rumble Bee began with Sonny Marshall and Leo Goodman—two young friends whose bond was forged through hardship, fear and the experience of being made to feel unsafe.

Instead of allowing those experiences to turn into bitterness, they became the first spark of an idea:

What if frightened people had somewhere safe to become strong?

Sonny and Leo are both under 18. They are the young founders and inspiration behind Rumble Bee, but they will not carry formal responsibility for running the organisation while they are still young.

The project is now seeking experienced adults, trustees, coaches, safeguarding professionals, volunteers and community partners who can help turn their idea into a safe and sustainable charity.

Our current stage

Rumble Bee Fight Back Club is currently in its setup and development stage.

The gym is not yet open and Rumble Bee is not yet operating as a registered charity.

We are working towards:

  • Establishing the right charitable structure
  • Recruiting a responsible board of trustees
  • Appointing suitable adult leadership
  • Developing safeguarding and operational policies
  • Finding an accessible home in Andover
  • Recruiting qualified coaches and mentors
  • Raising the money needed to open safely
  • Listening to local families and future members

We will be honest about our progress and will never pretend that a service exists before it is ready.

Help us build it

Rumble Bee started with two young friends, but it will take a community to make it real.

We want to hear from families, potential members, coaches, trustees, safeguarding professionals, volunteers, businesses, funders and local people who believe that poverty should never prevent somebody from becoming healthier, safer and stronger.

The bravest people are not the ones who never get hurt. They are the ones who get hurt and still stay good.

Register your interest

Tell us whether you would like to train, volunteer, coach, become a trustee, support the project or help provide Rumble Bee with a permanent home.
